How to transform local boiler house into a community library that was a main competition topic. We have divided volume of the building into two parts. The main horizontal volume is opened in groundfloor level inviting people to come and see library life. The vertical volume provides communication between levels. The underground level contains service spaces, the groundfloor a community center and a youth library, the firstfloor level an adult library. The building is covered by a burnt timber cladding legacy of the former boiler house.
